Christmas Delight

"This Christmas is turning out to the happiest that I ever 
had in years," Maggie remarked to her daughter, Dana. They 
were in the kitchen in the middle of washing the dinner 
dishes. "I'm so happy you and Fox came back to us, along 
with William." She paused, turning to face her daughter and 
giving her a mother's special smile. "And I thank you and 
Fox for sharing the amazing news that I'll be a grandma 
again of the soon-to-be born baby girl."

"I'm glad too, Mom. Mulder and I are thrilled that the FBI 
brought out the welcoming mat. They want us back on the X-
Files. It turns out that the charges are false and the men 
behind the kangaroo tribunal did a disappearing act, died, 
or transferred to some place faraway. Kersh and 
Kallenbrenner both testified to the fact."

"Will you be returning to DC?"

Scully nodded. "Mulder and I still need to look for a 
bigger place; somewhere that includes three bedrooms, a 
kitchen, living room, bathroom, and a den."

"If you need any decorating advice, you can always ask me."

"Mom - "

"I guess you and Fox have your own style."

"It's not that, Mom. It's just...yes, we want to plan our 
home together. I need to find out what he wants too."

"That's all right, Dana. It doesn't matter. I'm glad that 
you're home to stay."

"Me too." She paused. "I know Mulder and William feel the 
same way. Their eyes light up with a happiness that I 
haven't seen for a long time." 

Maggie took her daughter in her arms. "Dana, I can see the 
joy on your face, too." She looked into her daughter's 
eyes. "I realize the two of you share a love that knows no 
boundaries." She paused. "You complete him." 

Scully softly smiled. "I know, Mom." 
"I know that I haven't always been able to share this, 
Dana, but I'm proud of you." Her embrace became a bit 
tighter. "I love you."

Scully's eyes became misty with unshed tears. "I know. 
Merry Christmas, Mom."
