Summary: What was Scully's reaction to Mulder's message? Missing Scene. -------------------------------------- COME TO THE FIELD Written by: Erin M. Blair -------------------------------------- I just received this e-mail from Mulder: * TO: DANA SCULLY * FROM: FOX MULDER * DATE: April 25, 1999 * SUBJECT: Come to the field... * * Scully, * Come to the field. Call me on my cell phone. * I'll give you the directions. * Fox Mantle "Fox Mantle," I repeated. "What's he up to?" The field? Fox Mantle? I knew that he had baseball on his brain ever since he saw that picture of Josh Exley with the Bounty Hunter and Arthur Dales. For the past couple of weeks, we haven't had any X-Files coming our way. It's been slow. I dialed his cell phone, and I heard his low voice. "Mulder." "Mulder, it's me." "Scully. The field's near our bench at the park." I smiled to myself. "Westview Park. I remember now." "I loved how you showed me your secret spot." I nodded. "Yes, I do." I can't believe he still remembered that. I showed him the spot after he told me we were being shut down the first time. "I told you that's where we'd go if something happened." "It's been awhile since we'd been there." "I know." "Come on, let's go." "All right. I'll see you there within an hour." "Great!" We said our goodbyes, and I couldn't help wonder what he's up to. I'll find out soon enough. End of Story Feedback: Only critical, positive feedback please. If you flame me, I'll laugh at your expense. Send to: eblair@sonic.net Author's Notes: This story has no dramatic tension, and it wasn't meant to have any action at all. It's just a sweet, sappy character piece for both Mulder and Scully and it was intended to be that way. No angst. No tension. If I wanted to write a story with dramatic tension and action, I would have done so. I thought that it would be interesting to show that Scully had a private place that she shared with Mulder. I was very curious of what her reaction would be when she saw Mulder's message. I hope that you'd like this story.
