Reflection of the Truth

Abducted. 

I stood before the mirror, examining 
my scars from the abduction. I closed my
eyes, remembering the anguish that I 
felt when they tore open my chest. I 
remembered the pain that I suffered 
at their hands. 

I used to be in control of my life. 

Now I'm not. 

I feel time slipped by and disappeared. 

Before I was abducted, Scully and I were just 
settling into our new intimate relationship as 
lovers. We dreamed of the possibility that we 
could become parents someday. 

When I opened my eyes, I learned she was
pregnant with our baby. I suspected as much 
when she was overcome with dizziness and 
nausea in Oregon. 

Then I found out that she found out on the very 
day I was abducted. I should have been with her 
and our unborn child during the past six months. 

I'm going to protect my new family; they are
my truth. 

Forever more.

Author's Notes:

This story was written for Beyond the Sea's 155 
Word challenge. I'm using one element -- the word, 
'mirror,' that was suggested by Toniann. I would like 
to thank her and the list members of Beyond The 
Sea for the support. 

This story wasn't exactly a new idea as I was working 
on a similar story called, "The Reason for Not Fitting 
In." I thought that I would shorten it for this story. I 
hope you guys like it. The longer story would be posted 
soon. 

I would like to thank everyone for your support. You 
guys are great! :) 

I also would like to thank my beta reader (and my 
writing mentor), Jen, for her support and encouragement 
of my writing. She has been there for me during my ups
