Summary: Scully's gone - can Mulder go on living? ------------------------------------ The Blind Date Written by: Erin M. Blair ------------------------------------ Setting It All Up. ~ Anna Cassidy's POV ~ I was working on an assignment as a reporter for the Washington Times-Dispatch when my friend, Jocelyn Adams, called me. "Cassidy here." "Anna, there's someone I would like you to meet," Jocelyn said in a friendly tone. I sighed. Ever since I'd broken up with my boyfriend a few weeks ago, she had wanted me to get together with someone. Last week, it was one of her co-workers at the FBI field office in Maryland. "I don't know, Jocelyn..." "It'll be fun." "I don't know... I appreciate your concern, but I'm fine. It's been a few months since I had broken up with Steve and I don't want to get involved with anyone else." "You need to meet someone, Anna. I would like you to meet Fox. He's one of my friends at the FBI." "Not another one of those FBI types, Jocelyn." "He's a nice guy," she said defensively. "His name's Fox." "You told me his first name, but what's his full name?" "Fox Mulder." "Mulder?" I asked questionably. "Wasn't his partner/lover murdered?" "I wouldn't say that, but yes, she's dead. Dana Scully was a fine agent," Jocelyn said with sadness. "I would like Fox to meet you at my house for a blind date. Meet us at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow." "All right," I said with reluctance. ~ Fox Mulder's POV ~ Jocelyn set me up with a date with this reporter. Her name's Anna Cassidy, she told me, with long auburn hair and hazel eyes. I don't know what kind of person she is, but I'll be meeting her tomorrow. I didn't want to meet anyone who wasn't Scully. Of course I couldn't tell this to Jocelyn. She's been a good friend since we met at the Violent Crimes bullpen at the FBI, and she held me as I cried about Scully's death. Scully... Just the name brought back memories for me. I could picture her mane of shoulder-length auburn hair and her Pacific Ocean colored eyes with her tender smile whenever we were together. I remember how I cried when she died of cancer. She had developed a tumor against the nasal cavity which pushed into her brain. Before she died, she had given me her journal of her entries about her love for me and how she wanted me to get along without her. I can't bear to let her go. I loved her so much and I can't forget her all that easily. I miss you, Scully. ~ Jocelyn Adams' POV ~ I want them to meet. I don't care if Fox still has feelings for Dana. She's dead. I know that's mean, but it's true. She's never going to come back unless she has a twin somewhere. Or a clone. Anna Cassidy's lonely since she had broken up with Steve. She needs someone to love. So does Fox. I hope they'll like each other when they meet. Soulmates ~ Anna Cassidy's POV ~ From Anna's Diary: Dear Diary, As I walked towards Jocelyn's house, my heart felt like it was in my stomach. I'm always nervous at these blind dates. I don't know how to act or what to expect. Most of the guys she had set me up with since I had broken up with Steve were only interested in having sex. They were too fast. Unlike Fox. When I first met him, I couldn't get over the fact that he looked so handsome. He had dark brown hair and his eyes were colored a mixture of green and brown. Hazel. I had spent some time with you, and it was like we were destined to meet. Like we had always known each other. Soulmates. I think we're going to be together for a very long time. ~ Fox Mulder's POV ~ From Mulder's Journal: Scully, I've met the most wonderful woman at Jocelyn's house. Her name's Anna Cassidy. Like you, she has auburn hair and a loving personality. However, there's a lot of differences between the both of you. She's a reporter and her eyes were like mine. I'm not replacing you, Scully. Never. Since meeting Anna, I feel you were right. I must move on with my life. She brings a whole new outlook in my life, and I wonder what lies ahead for us. It makes me giddy with excitement. You'll always remain in my heart forever, Scully. You know I'll always love you, but I know you would understand my need. With this knowledge, I can envision you smiling down at me with tears of joy in your clear, blue eyes. Yours, Mulder. ~ Anna Cassidy's POV ~ I know he loves her. Dana. He told me everything their love and about her tragic death from cancer. I feel as though I'd always known him. As he told me about her, I told him about Steve. We both miss our lovers, but we have each other. Forever. I love him. ~ Jocelyn Adams' POV ~ I set them up, and they're together!! I'm so happy for them as I knew they were made for each other. End of Story Feedback: Much appreciated and welcomed. Send to: eblair@sonic.net Author's Notes: This story was written for Creative Writing class. In the original story, Mulder was David McConnell and Scully was Danielle Lesky. For this story, I had changed the names - it wasn't hard for they are really supposed to be Mulder and Scully in the first place! I hope you'll enjoy this story.
